Mediterraneo Bowl
The "Mediterraneo" decoration by LPWK - Emma Silvestris is the most recent example of a decoration whose success dictates the creation of a family.

LPWK
Laura Polinoro, born Bergamo, graduated in art and communication from DAMS in Bologna. She initially worked in contemporary dance dealing with artistic coordination, costumes and set design. She later worked as a researcher at the Domus Academy in Milan.
From 1990 to '98 she was in charge of the Alessi Study Center, for which she was a meta-designer and art director, coordinating workshops held both within the company and in collaboration with numerous universities and design centers around the world and developing numerous editorial and communication activities.

Emma Silvestris
Born in Salerno in 1962, Emma Silvestris lives and works in Bari, Italy. After graduating in literature, specializing in foreign literature and Art History, she devoted herself to teaching and research.
She has been involved in design since 1990, participating in the activities of Studio Speciale in Bari. An eclectic and versatile designer, she manages to combine in her designs soft and feminine Forma, the rigor and elegance of geometry, and the use of symbols of ancient tradition.

Alessi's mission statement
Founded in 1921 as a "Brass and nickel silver plate workshop, with foundry," Alessi has always been recognized for the high quality of its products. In almost a century of history it has gradually evolved to become a leading exponent of the "Italian design factories," capable of applying the skills and excellence achieved in design management to very different types of products.
Open to change and international development, the company is at the same time deeply rooted in the tradition and cultural background of its territory: Alessi continues to be synonymous with handcrafted objects made with the help of machines.
Today Alessi's mission is to translate the search for the most advanced cultural, aesthetic, executive and functional quality into industrial mass production. The design product springs from the constant search for mediation between art and industry, between the "Immensity of the Creative Possible" and the needs of the market.
The company's commitment is to constantly work on a borderline, balancing the most advanced expressions of international creativity and the desires of the public. Alessi has been called a "Dream Factory": through its products it aspires to make its contribution to respond to a desire for people's happiness, to the need for Art and Poetry common to all people.
Since 1921, the year the company was founded, the most significant part of Alessi's objects has been made by cold metalworking and, even today, is produced in Italy by the skilled workers at the Crusinallo factory in Omegna. Even when it takes place outside the Crusinallo factory, the guidelines Alessi has established guarantee the same quality standards as the company's original production, in a continuous mediation between the technological complexity of industry and the attention to detail of craftsmanship.
